Angie and I experienced our first dog attack tonight. While I was walking her, a German Shepherd ran out of its yard and charged her specifically (I was walking Eli at the same time) with its hackles raised and teeth bared. It appeared that he/she bit her but I haven't found any bite marks so she might have not actually made contact. The owner was nowhere in sight, of course. The dog only backed away after about 15 seconds of me aggressively yelling at it and trying to make myself appear as large and imposing as possible. Had I not done so, the dog would have continued to stalk us. Angie is a friendly dog and had no idea what was going on except that she was frightened and pulling away from the dog that was trying to bite her.
Poor Angie walked home the rest of the way with her ears back and a nervous gait. :(
I am seriously considering purchasing some pepper spray to protect myself and the pups.
Yesterday was Angie's 3rd birthday. This year is probably the most spoiled she's ever been, since I adopted a baby brother for her. (And let's face it, for myself.) Here are some photos of the festivities:
